What is the dress code for Royal Ascot when attending the Royal Enclosure? Read our guide on what the best dressed gentlemen wear when attending the Royal Enclosure at Royal Ascot, what to buy and how to save money on your Royal Ascot morning suit.
For the Royal Enclosure at Royal Ascot traditional morning dress otherwise known as top hat and tails is the compulsory dress code for gentlemen.
A black morning suit is classic attire, however a grey morning suit is also just as acceptable and worn by many. If you decide on wearing a black tailcoat jacket, the trousers should be the classic grey & black stripe morning trouser.
However, if you decide to wear a grey tailcoat, then the morning trousers should also be plain grey and made from the same cloth as the tailcoat.
A waistcoat must be worn at all times and are here you can added a little more individual style. It is acceptable to wear coloured waistcoats rather than the traditional dove grey that used to be insisted upon.
A crisp white shirt or pale coloured shirt with white collar & cuffs. No more than 1" of the cuff should be visible and shirt should be double cuff for wear with cufflinks.
A tie is also required, if wearing a coloured waistcoat then this should complement rather than match the waistcoat. No cravats.
